Testimonials
Marc Joy has had a massive positive effect on my music and my experience of recording. Marc’s handling of my music has been in tune with my own vision and his ear for sound and production is stunning. Marc’s understanding of space, balance of mixing and control of reverb/delay took my music to another level which culminated in my debut Album being released on vinyl through God Unknown Records. Marc is mannered,
amiable and incredibly easy to get along with.
Marc’s passion, patience and abilities are second to none in my eyes and I am relieved to
have been able to use his services. This man knows what he is doing!

I worked with Marc on my album "Long Lost Eden".
In truth though, the process was "way too much fun" to be called "working"
Over a period of about 5 years, we would spend one day per week fine-tuning the mixes of the uber-dense soundscapes I'd created. At times this was a near-impossible feat due to the ludicrous number of audio tracks I'd laid down.(300 ish on "Wild Heart")
In short, without Marc's faith and dedication, the album wouldn't have been possible.
"Highly recommend"

“Marc Joy (Ferndale Productions) is quite simply the best producer / engineer you will find. He has produced over 30 of my songs and all the tracks on my first album, “Mind’s Eye”. Marc’s huge technical experience is second to none, but his real gift is he listens to the music, listens to the artist, hears what you want and fills in the gaps that songwriters always leave because we are so focused on the parts… I’ve taken many half- baked acoustic iPhone recordings of songs to Marc and he’s worked with me to craft finished radio-edit quality tracks… In fact, he is fantastic to work with and his patienceis a bonus… For me Marc is a genuine critical friend who cares that you create something you love and that others get to hear.. I’ll be working on my second album with Marc soon… I wouldn’t want anyone else..”

What do you expect from your producer/recording engineer? What do you want? Really.
For me it’s someone who can read my mind, tap into the ‘vibe’, eke out the golden nuggets,
bin the padding….identify the soul of each song and bring it to fruition .
Do I ask a lot? Quite probably but then I’d been let down so many times and ended up
disappointed….until….enter, stage left, Mr Joy.
To have multi-track versions of your songs sounding barely recognisable but oh so much closer to
what was in my head….
To commence each recording session with a clear understanding on all parts what the
proposed end point looks like…..
This takes talent, patience, understanding, a broad musical church to sit alongside
technical expertise……Marc has these in abundance.
Quite simply, West Coast Music Club have just released their 5th album…none of this
would have been possible without Marc.
Use him, pay him well, it’s worth every penny.

I first met Marc back in 2009 at Runway Studios located on Westcott Venture Park, just outside of Waddesdon Buckinghamshire. We were running through the list of songs that would end up on our first (and only) album. Marc was engineering for our friend Adrienne Aiken. If I remember correctly Marc had driven down from Mold in North Wales that morning. He hadn’t eaten and wanted to step out to the local shop for food. After a while I asked him why he still hadn’t left.
He replied in his tuneful John Lennon’esque voice, ‘I can’t leave in case I miss something amaaaazing!’.
It was immediately obvious to the band that we needed Marc to produce our album ‘How Much Are You Willing To Forget?’.
Marc has an innate understanding of what’s required in order to capture a moment or generate a specific sound. He has decades of studio experience and technical expertise to draw upon. I honestly believe that Marc Joy was the catalyst that enabled me to realise my vision and thankfully he produced an album I will forever be proud of! In other words, he knows his shit!
